Second time imaging the North America Nebula. My first attempt at imaging can be seen here:
2020.11.01 – North America Nebula
The main difference this time around is using the Radian Triad Ultra filter and shooting at 600s exposure time. 600s exposure time is long and comes with some risks. I am able to capture less light images and risk having some images become invalid to use. Example, a plane flying by (I got an airport near by!), space debris or satellite, drifting temporarily, etc. There is always that give or take when it comes quantity vs exposure time. Luckily I was able to use all 25 light images captured.
You can see above the differences in quality between my 2020 and 2021 images. I have more details of the gassy emission areas. Able to expose more of nebula than before which makes it look fuller. I owe it thanks to Radian Triad Ultra filter again and longer exposure time. But also I have gotten better at the post processing. I am still using Photoshop and I think I got a decent routine at the moment. At some point I’ll face my challenge at using PixInsight.
