My first image of the Jellyfish Nebula. IC 443. SH 2-248. A nebula that lies about 5000 light years away.
This is the second image I’ve processed where I used the Radian Triad Ultra Quad-Band Narrowband filter (what a mouth full of a title!). Once again very happy with the results. I really like how the nebula does look like a jellyfish. You got the tentacle arms.You can see through the layers at certain areas. Also, it’s shaped like a jellyfish. It’s a very cool looking nebula.
I processed the image in photoshop. The one thing I felt I was over-doing in previous images was the minimizing of the stars. I would go through 3/4 rounds of minimizing stars. The problem I had is as a continued to process the image I noticed the background became grittier or fragmented. This time around I minimized the stars with just one round. That really helped in keeping the background smooth. I may have more stars than I wanted but at least it looks more natural.
This is like my favorite new image thus far because I feel I’ve done the best post processing on. Not like I’ve been doing this long or anything.
